Doug is the Founder and CEO of Fliptop, a consumer web application. Prior to Fliptop, Doug was the CEO and Co-Founder of two other companies – Myplay (sold to Bertelsmann), and Mi5 Networks (sold to Symantec). Doug is a 20+ year veteran of Silicon Valley, starting his career at Apple Computer after graduating from Carnegie Mellon University with his B.S. in Electrical Engineering and MBA.
Cindy Cowan is the former President of Initial Entertainment Group (IEG), a leading independent film production and foreign sales company based in Los Angeles. Between 1995 and 2000, IEG had many successes including: an Emmy nomination for Rent-A-Kid, starring Leslie Neilson; Emmy, Golden Globe and People's Choice nominations for If These Walls Could Talk, starring Cher, Sissey Spacek, Anne Heche and Demi Moore; and won a United Nations Award for Savior, starring Dennis Quaid. Since forming a new production company, Cindy Cowan Entertainment, Cowan has produced Scorched starring Woody Harrelson and Alicia Silverstone. In addition to her work in film, Cowan is also an accomplished songwriter and lyricist. She has written songs for film and TV, an album title track for Engelbert Humperdinck, and a hit for R&B artist Howard Hewitt, which went to number three on the R&B charts.
Karen Chakmakian is VP of Marketing for Fuzz Artists, Inc., a new music company that provides a unified destination for music artists and fans. Before joining Fuzz, Karen was a marketing consultant for six years, bringing leadership and direction to early-stage companies. Prior to her work as a consultant, she co-founded and led corporate marketing for iPass, which delivers simple and secure enterprise connectivity services for mobile workers in more than 150 countries. Prior to iPass, Karen consulted to International Messaging Associates in Hong Kong and held marketing and business operations roles at two startups in the semiconductor industry. Karen holds an MBA from Santa Clara University.
Andrew Davis is a seasoned marketing executive with over 30 years of leadership experience at companies such as Procter& Gamble and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals (formerly American Home Products). He has a proven track record of launching and/or growing some of the most recognizable consumer franchises in America, e.g.: Advil, Centrum and Chapstick. Throughout his career his understanding of consumer insights, his creativity and his strategic acumen have ensured the success and growth of numerous consumer franchises. Andrew was educated at the Johns Hopkins University where he received his bachelor’s degree in economics and history. He proceeded to earn a Master’s of Business from the University of Chicago, majoring in marketing and finance. He began his marketing career at Procter & Gamble and then joined the consumer division of Wyeth, commencing a 28 year career with that corporation. During his career at Wyeth, Andrew gained marketing and leadership experience rising from product manager to vice president of marketing in less than five years, becoming the youngest vice president in the company’s history at the age of 29. Andrew retired in 2008 to become a full time father, following the death of his wife of 25 years, Carol. In addition to his first priority as a full time dad, Andrew is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Craig School, and independent school specializing in children with language based learning difficulties and active in his temple where he recently endowed a lectureship series in honor of his wife. Andrew also is developing a blog with advice for single fathers and pursuing philanthropic opportunities. Andrew is an avid skier, runner, swimmer, and baker.
Mike is Managing Principal of JMF & Co. (www.jmf-co.com), a corporate business development advisory firm. Previously, Mike was a Managing Director at the BTI Group, a mergers and acquisitions firm. Mike co-founded The Coffee Review, the world's leading guide to coffee ratings, and GreatCoffee.com, an on-line retailer of specialty coffees. He served in the US Army Reserves attaining the rank of Captain and graduated at the top of both his military class and his officer basic course. He earned his Airborne (paratrooper) wings and served with the 411th Civil Affairs battalion, a special operations unit engaging in humanitarian relief and reconstruction missions. Mike was selected as one of the top emerging leaders and one of the most influential Latinos in San Francisco by the San Francisco Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the San Francisco Business Times. He has received numerous awards for his community service including awards from the Mayor of San Francisco and the Speaker of the US House of Representatives. He was a 2009 National Finalist for the White House Fellowship and was selected as a 2009 American Marshall Memorial Fellow by the German Marshall Fund. Mike earned a BSE from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and his MPA from Harvard University He has a passion for Latin music and plays guitar in his spare time.
Zac Fisher is president of ZacFISHERConsulting. As a consultant, he has a 20 year track record of developing creative and analytic strategies to drive profit and growth both in the US and internationally. Focusing on education, other kid-related and food & beverage spaces, he and his teams specialize in helping mid-sized businesses ($200M - $1B in sales) solve tough problems to drive company value. Previously Zac was VP of Finance, Strategy & Business Development at LeapFrog, the educational toy company, where he was one of the main architects of the strategic turnaround plan. Prior to then, Zac held a leadership position with Mars & Co, a strategy consulting firm retained by Fortune-500 and international corporations. He co-led the San Francisco office with responsibility for multi-year consulting relationships with C-level executives. Hopelessly mired in the music of the ‘60s and ‘70s, Zac’s other interests include road bicycling, cooking, performing on woodwind instruments and collecting vintage toys and ethnographic and paleolithic artifacts. He has a MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management and a BA in economics from the University of Maryland. He lives in San Francisco with his wife Karen, son Sam, two cats and one indestructible goldfish.
Ken Golden is President of Golden Professional Corporation in Encinitas, California. He has provided organizational development consultation and executive coaching within the for-profit and non-profit sectors for over 20 years. Dr. Golden is currently Senior Advisor to the Kenneth A. Picerne Foundation, a social entrepreneurial foundation in San Juan Capistrano, California. He is Visiting Professor of Management at Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Golden was Assistant Dean in the College of Health and Human Services at San Diego State University and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He is a former United States Peace Corps Volunteer, having served in Ghana, West Africa. Ken earned a Masters degree in Social Work and a Doctorate in Education.

Joeseph Laska isan attorney in the Los Angeles office of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, a national law and consulting firm. Joe’s practice focuses on all aspects of general business and commercial litigation in both state and federal courts. He has experience in a wide range of areas such as contractual disputes, insurance, labor and employment, corporate dissolutions, intellectual property, unfair competition, class actions, international arbitration, and appeals. Joe is also actively involved in pro bono matters, including serving as pro bono counsel to Little Kids Rock. He has a BA from American University and a JD from UCLA School of Law. A beneficiary of music education in schools, Joe spent his childhood as an avid percussionist. Fortunately for his neighbors, he now just dabbles in guitar.
Ed has most recently been a management consultant to senior executives and CEOs of firms in the world of financial information and technology. Until 2000, Ed was CEO of The MarketNet Group, a New York-based technology consulting firm that served over 100 of the most prestigious banks and brokerage firms in North America. He had been with Reuters prior to that and held a number of executive positions in Sales and Marketing. Ed has his MBA from Boston University, his BA from the University of Connecticut. He is a die-hard rocker and a lover of the blues.
Robert B. Morrison has a deep body of research and policy work and is known as a pioneer in statewide arts education status and condition research. He is widely recognized as one of the nation’s leading advocates for music and arts in education and in society. He is co-founder of Quadrant Arts Education Research, the nation’s leading arts education research and market intelligence organization. Prior to co-founding Quadrant Arts Education Research Mr. Morrison was the founder of Music for All, one of the nation’s largest and most influential music education organizations where he remains Chairman Emeritus. Mr. Morrison helped develop and then served as the CEO of the VH1 Save The Music Foundation. Previously, Mr. Morrison was a senior executive for the NAMM - International Music Products Association, where he served as Executive Director of the American Music Conference and worked with the late Michael Kamen and Richard Dreyfus to create the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation. Mr. Morrison’s work on behalf of the arts has earned him both an EMMY and a Peabody Award. He recently received an honorary doctorate degree from the State University of New York for his efforts to advance the arts nationwide.
Warren Rosen is the Founder and President of Rosen and Companies of NY and Harmony Insurance Brokerage, providing insurance, estate planning and employee benefits for over 5,000 individuals and 1,000 businesses nationally. He also recently started Legacy Options Group, a company focused on Charitable Planned Giving. Warren has been recognized as a leader in his industry, receiving a number of industry honors and advisory board positions, and has been quoted on insurance-related issues by numerous periodicals including The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. Triggered by the tragic events of 9/11, and losing over 50 clients, Warren re-directed more of his attention to philanthropy and is now an Advisor and supporter to many charities across the globe. In 2007 Warren received the U.S. Doctors for Africa Global Citizen Award for Social Philanthropy. His daughter Raechel is the lead singer of Creation Teen Band, which has raised over $100,000 for WAFF since 2005.
Jay is a co-founder and managing member of Vyas Capital Management, LLC, an asset management and consulting firm. Jay has over twenty years experience in the field of quantitative asset management including over nine years at Barclays Global Investors, four years at Martingale Asset Management, and three years at Barra, Inc. Jay earned his BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Jay enjoys coaching and playing sports and playing music in his spare time. He is a dedicated amateur musician who enjoys rock, metal, blues, jazz, and more. Jay dabbles on guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards, and has even been known to attempt to shred on a mandolin from time to time.
