Little Kids Rock Privacy Policy

Little Kids Rock (LKR) maintains the highest level of respect for the privacy of its donors. We value our donors, volunteers and prospects (hereafter referred to as our "supporters") and take their privacy seriously. We will respect the privacy of the personal and organizational information that we are privileged to have about our supporters. Our commitment to respect the privacy of our supporters extends to how we obtain, use, protect and share information about them. This privacy policy is intended to be applied in conjunction with related Little Kids Rock policies, including, but not limited to, the Donor Bill of Rights.

This policy may be updated from time to time, as we are alerted to circumstances that may impel us to greater diligence to protect both your rights to privacy and the relationship you have with Little Kids Rock.

Privacy Policy

What information we collect:

Little Kids Rock collects and uses various personal information from supporters, which includes: amount donated, address, telephone number, supporter comments and e-mail address.

Tax laws in the United States and the State of New Jersey require Little Kids Rock to maintain donation records with contact information and contribution levels.

How we use that information:

Little Kids Rock holds strictly confidential all information concerning supporters and prospects, including names, e-mail or mail addresses, telephone numbers, names of beneficiaries, nature and value of estates, amounts of provisions or gifts, etc., unless a supporter or prospect grants permission to use selective information for purposes of referral, testimonial, example, recognition, or publicity.

Little Kids Rock will use contact information (e-mail, telephone number and address) of supporters for the following purposes only:

  • Distributing receipts to supporters for their donations
  • Thanking supporters for their donations
  • Informing supporters about upcoming fundraising and other activities of Little Kids Rock
  • Conducting internal analysis of donations and maintaining donation records
  • Reporting to relevant U.S. and State agencies (these reports are not for public inspection)
  • Contacting supporters about changes to this policy

Financial information

All access to supporter information is strictly limited to professional staff who need to process those data. No such data are given to any person, organization or group who does not need to access those data.

Little Kids Rock only uses online payment processing services with world class security and strong reputations. Little Kids Rock does not store, nor does it have access to, your credit card information, bank account numbers, or other account data sent to those processing services.

Further, we contractually require any person or organization providing services to Little Kids Rock to protect the confidentiality of supporter information.

Assurances of Privacy Controls

Little Kids Rock has procedures in place to limit access to information to those employees and volunteers who need to know such information in order to fulfill our mission.

We educate our employees and volunteers on the importance of protecting the privacy and security of confidential, personal and organizational information.

We will use our best efforts to comply with the expressed wishes of any supporter who:

  • does not want to be recognized in published donor acknowledgement lists or credited in any promotional material
  • requests to be removed from our mailing lists for newsletters, promotions or fundraising
  • wishes to remain anonymous in their giving and/or volunteer service to the mission of Little Kids Rock.

Little Kids Rock Nondiscrimination Policy

Little Kids Rock is committed to the principle of equal opportunity in education and employment. Little Kids Rock does not discriminate against individuals on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, age, veteran status, ancestry, or national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, volunteer policies, employment policies, donation programs, vendor contracting and other Little Kids Rock programs and activities.

The Chief Operating Officer is designated as the Little Kids Rock's Equal Opportunity Officer and Title IX Coordinator. Inquiries concerning Little Kids Rock's policies, compliance with applicable laws, statutes, and regulations (such as Title VI, Title IX, and Section 504), and complaints may be directed to the Chief Operating Officer. In the absence of the Chief Operating Officer, inquiries or complaints may be directed to the Executive Director or to the Office Manager, respectively. Inquiries about the laws and about compliance may also be directed to the Personnel Committee Chairperson of the Board of Directors.

Little Kids Rock is committed to compliance with Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, Title I and Title II of the Civil Rights Act of 1991, the Equal Pay Act of 1963, Executive Order 11246 (1965), Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and its regulations found at 34 C.F.R. part 106, Sections 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the Vietnam-era Veterans Readjustment Act of 1974, the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993, and with New Jersey Law Against Discrimination (N.J.S.A. 10:5-1, et seq.).

Donor Bill of Rights

Little Kids Rock subscribes to the Donor Bill of Rights in its entirety, EXCEPT that because we DO NOT share or sell our mailing lists, Point Number Nine of the Donor Bill of Rights is moot.

Philanthropy is based on voluntary action for the common good. It is a tradition of giving and sharing that is primary to the quality of life. To assure that philanthropy merits the respect and trust of the general public, and that donors and prospective donors can have full confidence in the not-for-profit organizations and causes they are asked to support, we declare that all donors have these rights:

  • To be informed of the organization's mission, of the way the organization intends to use donated resources, and of its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.
  • To be informed of the identity of those serving on the organization's governing board, and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.
  • To have access to the organization's most recent financial statements.
  • To be assured their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given.
  • To receive appropriate acknowledgment and recognition.
  • To be assured that information about their donations is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law.
  • To expect that all relationships with individuals representing organizations of interest to the donor will be professional in nature.
  • To be informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers, employees of the organization or hired solicitors.
  • To have the opportunity for their names to be deleted from mailing lists that an organization may intend to share.
  • To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful and forthright answers.
